We are pleased to announce SCCA's WellFest the Wellbeing Chapter's third "Wellbeing Wednesdays series" for 2025!

What the session will cover:

  • Why is sleep so important. Why are legal professionals more prone to sleep deprivation compared to other professions?
  • During the lunch sessionwe willengage in meaningful interactive conversations. These will be facilitated by trained expert in sleep - Eric Lim, these conversations will be in a safe space environment, and during a lunch.
  • We will discuss the importance of sleep, theSingaporean culture of staying up late with the expectation of higher productivity and achievement. In more recent times, heavy screen use has worsened the problem.
  • The effects of inadequate sleep and potential for impairment of overall performance and well-being, which may lower work efficiency and the quality of work, with both the individual as well as the company/managers/employers who suffer.
  • Data shows that there is reduced productivity, with higher rates of illness and increased absenteeism. Chronic sleep deprivation is associated with increased risk of anxiety, depression and other mental health issues as well as an increased mortality risk. Lack of good sleep may affect emotional regulation and increase one's stress vulnerability, Additionally, sleep deprivation may translate to an increased lack of concentration and alertness, being vigilant more prone towards mistakes. The ability to form long-term memories is impaired with lack of sleep.

The SCCA is striving to continue its commitment to fostering the wellbeing of the in-house legal professionals in Singapore.
