Resolving Cross-Border Commercial Disputes in the New Age: Exploring International Commercial Courts and International Arbitration Siraj Omar SC•Mahesh Rai•Laurence Wong•Natasha Sulaiman•Lynette Lee•Woo Shu Yan - Moderator
Arbitration has become the mechanism of choice for resolving cross-border commercial disputes. Adopting the best features of arbitration, the past decade has seen a rise in International Commercial Courts (ICCs) like the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC). Much like arbitration, ICCs are specialised courts tailored for the adjudication of complicated cross-border commercial disputes. They share similar features, including a set of flexible procedural rules comparable to those used in international arbitration, and deployment of overseas judges or foreign lawyers. This seminar will explore the SICC and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) as dispute resolution options for the new age.
